Prep a place setting for your laser!

Over the holidays, I made SO many of these place settings. I'm talking like hundreds of them - I was so tired of making these! However, after making so many, I kind of figured out a good system for prepping names (or words!) to be “laser ready” should we say.

And what does “laser ready" even mean? Well to me, It essentially means getting a file ready to be cut correctly on with a laser machine (this means maintaining dots on “i”s and thickening up the shape of a text to work well for a laser - all the things you need to make sure it looks good when cutting!)

So this week, I'm sharing a couple of quick tips for prepping a name for a place setting using Adobe Illustrator 2021. I'll go over a few things in this one pretty quick!

So follow along!!

What you'll learn:

  • How to use glyphs

  • How to move letters and pieces of your letters to attach to each other

  • How to unite letters

  • How to thicken up your text
